What do you do with the floss,
thread, beads, and other elements you have left over from full project kits?
Well I have been having a great
time reading what others do with left overs. I feel I will be a disappointment
I have stitched a few kits and I have
often had left over thread, however I don't really do anything with it. I don't
feel like I can throw it away, it seems like such a waste so tend to keep
the chart and the remaining thread together in case one day I might like to
stitch it again. This is a completely ridiculous thing to do however as there
would never be enough thread to stitch another one. I have also never had the
urge to re-stitch a project.
I would love to do something with the left over bits and pieces but as they are not numbered according to any DMC or Anchor numbers I don't really see what they can be used for. I love the idea of kids using them to create bracelets and practice some stitching tho.
Edit: Just found this link, thought it was interesting and relevant http://www.linesacross.com/2012/08/make-your-own-beads.html

Hi
ReplyDeleteGreat answer!
I used to keep them but I never used them. Now I just throw them away but I like your idea of using them in kids projects!
Happy weekend!
I use my DMC color card and match the colors up as best as possible. Then I label the threads with the DMC number. Some of the kits have DMC conversion charts, too. Then I use them for smaller projects where I don't need a lot of any one color.
ReplyDeleteLove the link - the bracelet look like a lot of work, but a great Craft project for a rainy day.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see everyone thinking about how to use their leftovers creatively :)
