The First Bunny Done

I have been working on my Somebunny to Love chart. I managed to get a full day in on one of my days off work and I finished all the cross stitching in the first little bunny, started the second and did a bit of the back stitching.

The back stitching on this piece is a bit difficult and all I can say is thank goodness for evenweave. Trying to do this back stitching on Aida would be worse than a nightmare. I still have a few weeks to get this one done before the baby arrives. I want to add the name, date and weight after.

Here is my progress on this:

Somebunny to Love - The World of Cross Stitching Issue 179
I like doing some of the back stitching on these as I go because it brings the whole piece together and really gives an idea of how it will look. I know I have said this before but I have to say it again. I just LOVE this fabric. It is lovely to work with and I think the way it has been dyed is just beautiful. This is a piece of Crafty Kittens fabric and is the first time I have used hand dyed for a larger piece.

I have been trying to fight against two things lately, a new start and working on a WIP that isn't in my rotation. Since I got my new L&L charts I have been itching to start one, however I am not allowed any new starts that aren't minis or gifts this year. Also having seen the beautiful HAED work in blogland I have really wanted to do some work on Bridge of Wings but it isn't in my rotation and I have at least two projects that I really need to made good progress on, the one above and Elegance of the Orient. Wish me lucky in avoiding the lure.

  5. Having returned to stitching, I'm curious about your comment about why you find backstitching on even weave easier than backstitching on aida. I have a kit in progress that has a significant amount of backstitching and I'd love any hints or tricks you have.
