HAP SAL - Bridge of Wings Progress June

Firstly I would like to apologise for not posting last week, things have been busy and I didn't get a chance to take some pictures of Bridge. The good news is, I have some progress.

Last time I was working on this piece I was having trouble with finding the best way to stitch on this, read about it here: HAP SAL and YOTA Update - HAED Bridge of Wings & Dimensions Gold Elegance of the Orient. I decided I would try stitching this in hand and see how I got on. The short answer to this experiment is, it was a disaster. I couldn't manage stitching this in hand at all. This led me to set up my floor stand again and it turned out to be the best solution. It is a bit awkward having to take it apart and put it together again but as the progress shows, it works!

Here is where I was last month:

HAED Bridge of Wings WIP, Heaven and Earth Designs Bridge of Wings Work in Progress. HAP SAL
HAED - Bridge of Wings from May
And this month:

HAED Bridge of Wings WIP, Heaven and Earth Designs Bridge of Wings Work in Progress. HAP SAL
HAED - Bridge of Wings June
So I manage to nearly complete page 3 and also made a small start on page 8. I am really happy with my progress this month and I should be able to get page 3 completed by next month.

I know that this is also YOTA time, however I have been working away on Bridge when I have had anytime that I didn't get even a stitch into Elegance again this month. I am feeling very guilty about all the other great YOTA progress going on and mine has remained the same for the last three months. I won't post another picture of the same thing, but if you want to see it check out the link above.

  2. Nice progress! Sorry stitching in hand didn't work for you, I can't do it either and especially not with a HAED. I usually use a large hoop and roll the extra fabric and secure it with a few plastic hair clips.

    1. Thanks so much for your comment. Glad to know I'm not the only one who struggles with such detailed projects in hand.

  3. Great progress! I'm glad you found a method that works, even if it's time-consuming to get set up and take it down. And I forgot my YOTA post!!! Ack!

  4. Great progress! I learned one-handed but the first time I stitched something with scroll rods and a stand and could use two hands, I really have never looked back. Upon occasion I've stitched one-handed for the sake of simplicity, but it's never been easier, it's usually way harder and takes more time than if I just scrolled it up in the first place.

  11. o goodness you are so brave for attempting to stitch in hand! I love stitching on the floor stand because two-handed stitching just seems to fly along after my normal pokey old stitches. You've made a massive amount of progress now, rejoice! :D

    1. Thanks so much. I have tried to get the hang of two handed stitching but I think I might need to change how I sit as my arms getting tired being in the same position for so long.

  18. I wouldn't even dream of trying to stitch a project of this size in hand. I struggle with even the smallest projects. I admire those that can but it's just not for me. I'm like you, I need to rock the floor stand and my millenium frame. You're doing really well on this project.

  19. It looks great! Well done on the progress :) Sorry the working in hand didn't work out, but the floor stand seems to be the best thing for you. My YOTA progress hasn't been happening either, but this month I fully intend to get some stitching in on one of my YOTA projects!
