Well I said I would do a post about the colour changes I used for the following floral patterns. The DMC colour key used colours that did not work together at all so I changed them. I will list the ones I changed in case there is anyone out there in blog land wants to do these and wants to use these colour changes. The charts are from Flowers in Focus - The World of Cross Stitching Issue 190
This is how two of them looked using the charted DMC colours, I also tried using the Anchor key on one of these with the same results:
As I think you can see the colours don't look right. So here are the ones I did with the changed colours. It took a few tries and much frogging to get them to look like this. I don't have a picture of the Lily finished completely, sorry about that.
So here are the colours I changed in the DMC list:
Original My Colour
893 = 335
891 = 601
957 = 3608
3804 = 3807
604 = 3609
I hope people find this helpful as these are really pretty when stitched and it is just a shame that the key is off. I haven't done all the ones on this chart though I do plan to in the future. If and when I do, I will post any colour changes I make.

ReplyDeleteI think yours look fab. Great job!!! I would think it likely that the pics are off, rather than the keys. The pics don't always show the true colors.
ReplyDeleteI used the existing colors on the key but increased the number of strands of floss. The only one that seems off is the sunflower because the two shades of yellow are so close. All in all with the increase in strands the key looks acceptable. :)
