A New Craft Added to my Collection - Jewellery Making

I love to learn new things. Once Autumn comes around again I start looking into what evening courses are available in my area. In 2013 I did an academic type class so I wanted something hands on this time around. One course in particular grabbed my attention,  jewellery class concentrating on working with metals.

It began in October of last year and the first few classes were learning some basic techniques. It is a very involved class and from the very start we were working with tools and metals. After the initial practice sessions were complete we were allowed to create our own piece.

I absolutely loved this course so I decided to do the second session after Christmas as well. This entails mostly working on my own projects, with some help and input from the instructor. I have fallen in love with working with silver wire, I'm a big fan of silver. So today I wanted to share with you a small pendant I made.

Handmade swirl sterling silver pendant. Swirl heart style pendant.
Two Hearts Together Pendant
This piece came out beautifully, the large and small heart formed by the swirls are very sweet. A second ring at the top stills needs to be added for the chain. Currently I am slowly building a set of tools to work on some of these projects at home.

I would love to hear your thoughts on my new crafty pursuit in the comments below.

  14. I went on a jewellery-making course and actually managed to drag my husband along with me. It was great fun and since then I've become addicted (he hasn't!) I find myself going online looking for fancy beads and clasps. I find it has made Christmases and birthdays so much easier as I just make something and I think it is so much more personal.
