You may be thinking what any of this has to do with my cat and bags. My cat LOVES bags and boxes, anything really that he can hide in. As far as I have learned from the internet this is a fairly common cat trait. Anytime I bring home something in a paper bag he immediately tries to get into it, even if it still has groceries in it. Anytime anyone else comes to the house with a paper bag, he will immediately try to get into it. It is a constant daily struggle to keep him from trying to get into a cardboard box we keep for books to go into the attic.
When I saw this on Pinterest I knew I had to make it: Cat Nest Pattern. I just love this and adore the thought of making it up for him to snuggle inside. I have decided that I will probably use 2 or 3 strands of DK yarn together to make this and see how it looks. I am hoping this will be a fairly quick project but I'm not the most proficient with a crochet hook so I guess we will see how it goes.
If you want to read my post about making the crochet basket featured in the pictures check it out: Something New
Please do check back in for the gridding tutorial later in the week and I will hopefully have a post on this little nest very soon as well.
Hmm, that sounds very interesting. I don't know how to crochet, but maybe there's a knit version somewhere. Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteGreat colors. Looking forward to seeing it.

MUST try this one!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice thing to do for your cat! And the crochet basket in the photo looks really lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a cute project. You'll have to post pictures of it with your cat for us to see.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute! I think my cats might like that, but I'd have to make two and they'd probably both end up squashed in one with the other sitting empty!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Loved that her kitty was sitting in the basket as she was crocheting it!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cleaver, a next for a cat. Can't wait to see it.

Our cats love boxes and my "cold sacks" for grocery shopping as well -- though the latter usually comes home filled with meat, perhaps understandable haha. I received a storage cart that came in a long thin box that has somehow transformed into a Magical Kitty Land. I cut UPC-sized holes in various spots and... mayhem. I move that box around the house and it becomes a whole new toy. I look forward to seeing your little nest and how it goes! I considered something similar for my derps but for now, the Magic Box is working well enough ahaha.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors! My cats do the same thing...they hide in anything!
