Hey everyone, hope you are all well this fine day. I took a small break from Elegance during the week, as I was pretty tired after work and all that back stitching requires very close attention. I still wanted to work on a cross stitch project so I decided to pick up Blossoming Spring. This is a chart from The Ultimate Forest Friends Cross Stitch Collection and I absolutely love it. You can see my last progress post on this piece here. I adore cherry blossom trees, and dream of having them in my own garden one day, but until then this will have to take their place.

Despite the fact that the stitches in this project tend to
wander around all over the place it can be quite relaxing to work on. The trick
is to do it in sections, filling in each colour as I go along in a particular cluster of blossoms. It becomes much easier to then base subsequent colours on the stitches already in place, provided they are correct of course.
However as I was working away happily on the grass I
realised that I had made a mistake and will have to frog some of it to re stitch
it right. It’s not a big mistake and won’t take long to fix but it meant that I
couldn’t go any further on the grass without rectifying the problem. As I wanted
a nice relaxed stitching session I decided to leave it for now and come back to
it when my concentration was better.

What is your favourite plant or tree? I would love to know, so drop a comment below.
Bye for Now!
That looked very familiar: http://kucki68.blogspot.it/2008/09/fo.html and here is why.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment and for including the link. I love your finish of this piece. What did you end up doing with it?
DeleteLilacs! And Japanese Maples. That is a beautiful project, excellent progress.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Both of those flowers/trees are beautiful I'm not surprised they are on your list.
DeleteA lovely design to be working on.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. I do like this pattern, fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and knew I would have to stitch it. There are quite a few in the chart book that I really want to stitch so will probably see more of them in the future.
DeleteGreat idea to switch things up, although sorry to hear about the intended frogging session. I don't know if I have a favourite flower really. Maybe zinnias since they're so easy to grow and spread? For tree definitely cedar. We have a few cherry trees and they are really beautiful in bloom.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Cherry blossoms are so beautiful in bloom the only problem is that any wind at all will blow all the flowers off which is a shame, they don't last in certain places.
DeleteI love so many flowers and trees, including cherry blossoms,I photograph flowers all the time:)Your stitching is beautiful,I just love the blossom colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. I really must start photographing more especially flowers & trees as they are so beautiful. The colours in this are lovely, they work really well together.
DeleteVery pretty tree! As for me, I love lilacs! Purple is my color, so maybe that's why. I also like dahlias, especially the round pom-pom ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Purple flowers are stunning. There are some amazing looking types of dahlias.
DeleteVery pretty and a nice piece to take on for a break :) Favorite tree--I would have to say weeping willows--love the way the long branches sway in the breeze.
ReplyDeleteOoohhh yes Weeping Willows are so beautiful. I was at a Wedding this year and the venue had a huge willow in the garden, it was so beautiful!
DeleteBeautiful project.

Thanks so much for your comment Linda. As soon as I saw this in the magazine I knew I HAD to stitch it. It's coming along nicely I think.
DeleteLooks great! Glad you caught the error right away so you can correct.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great comment. Thankfully the mistake isn't too big and should be easily fixed. It's was just annoying to find I had made it.
DeleteYou're a champion of working in sections to accomplish great results. I still remember the little tutorial you sent me about working on your Yerka design. I have used your tips in some of my wips too. So thank you very much for that. This is a very pretty chart. I couldn't claim a favourite tree as I love them all. But I would have to say Cherry Blossoms and Bougainvilleas are some of my favourites.

Thanks so much for your comment. I have been reading quite a bit about productivity and time management recently so been trying to implement some of the tips in all aspects of life. They do seem to work quite well. I'm so glad you found the tutorial useful, that makes my day.
DeleteGreat stitching on a lovely design. As for favourite flowers...well, I like jasmine and gardenia for the fragrance and fuschias because of their shape....and roses....and lilacs...and honeysuckle.....to be honest, I think I like all flowers! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. I can be difficult to chose a favourite when it comes to something like flowers, so many options. The only problem with cherry blossoms is they bloom early in the year when the weather isn't great and the first good wind and they all disappear.
DeleteI love this design. I like to work in sections too; the mini-finish morale is totally a thing!
ReplyDeleteFavorite flower, that's easy -- daffodils! They are my ultimate source of happiness. :D As for trees, hmm, I suppose a redbud! They're not very large trees but I love the way they look in the woods in spring and their heart-shaped leaves are great.
Thanks so much for your comment and your thoughts on your favourite flowers. Daffodils are so pretty, I'm not surprised they evoke happiness for you. I have found the mini finish to be a great motivator, glad it's not just me.
DeleteIt is a beautiful tree. It seems everyone is ripping out stitches this week
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. It does seem like the frogs have been unusually busy recently, so many people have been getting visits. Hopefully they will hop off soon.
DeleteGreat progress, so pretty:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Hopefully there will be more progress on this soon.
DeleteÓóó!klassz.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting and leaving a comment. I hope you come again :)
DeleteVery, very pretty. Apparently the frogs didn't realize that cherry trees are not part of their habitat. I love wildflowers of all types and maple trees.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Wildflowers are beautiful and they can make such pretty displays for a table. Love maple as well, the colours are just stunning.
DeleteCherry Blossoms are my favourite! This is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Glad to see another lover of cherry blossoms. If only the flowers last longer.
DeleteI love this piece! Cherry blossom trees are so pretty. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. This is a great piece to work on. It's nice and relaxing and the pretty colours are very calming.
DeleteI love this design!!! I understand needing a break for a design. I love dogwoods and lilacs.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. Lilacs are very pretty too. I had to google dogwood though :D, they are lovely as well.
DeleteLovely! I'm glad you picked this up again =)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. I was happy to make some progress on this, it's been a while since it saw any love.
DeleteBeautiful! This looks like quite a challenging piece but perhaps it's relaxing compared to Elegance?! Another daffodil fan here too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment. This piece isn't too bad as it's all cross stitches, no partials or anything. I tend to work on each blossom cluster at a time so that makes it much simpler.
DeleteIt looks beautiful! I definitely wouldn't have thought this would be relaxing!
