Can I do it?

I think it is time to re-evaluate my projects at the moment. I seem to keep bouncing from one to the next and I will never finish anything that way. I am therefore going to try to cut down the projects I am working on to a smaller number. Usually when I do this the only thing I want to work on is the one thing I said I shouldn't and then all my plans collapse. So I think if I have a small number of diverse projects I should find something I like and might just manage a finish or two (hopefully).

So I am going to work on the following:

Bridge of Wings - HAED
QS Clara - HAED
Elegance of the Orient - Dimensions Gold
Majestic Peacock - Dimensions Gold (YOTA)
Mystery Project (Shhhh it's a secret)
Upcoming SAL - details to be released soon.
One mini project - MS Hedgehog

So I have cut out:

QS Literate Dragon - BB SAL
QS Fairy with Butterfly Mask - HAED
QS Oliana Otter - HAED
Aveyond (The Journey) - HAED
Celtic Spring - Lavender & Lace
Awakening - HAED (though I wasn't really working on it anyway)
A Mini project - Some Bunny to love (which I haven't posted here yet)

The plan: work on anything in the top list that takes my fancy, but only that list. Make no new starts (except the upcoming SAL) and once something is finished, a project from the second list will be moved up. The mini project one though will only be replaced by another mini project.

I really hope this will work and I will manage to finish some projects - though now all I can think of is how much I want to work on Celtic Spring :D

Little Bits

I have been hopping around on some projects while I am trying to get my college project done. Because of this I like to just work on whatever takes my fancy on my breaks. So I have been doing a bit on Oliana Otter colouring in. Again she is quite fun to do once I managed to get into a groove with it.

I am really looking forward to finishing up with my deadline. I will probably start going crazy with having nothing to spend all my time on after about a week, but I am really looking forward to seeing more of my family and friends. They have been neglected a bit lately with having so much to do.

My love of WIP's

This is a post to say thanks to all the people out there who post their crafty pictures. At the moment I am in a real stitching place for the last year or so. I usually go through crafting phases where my craft of choice changes, however stitching is my big one at the minute. It means that I do feel bad that my other crafts are neglected.

However I digress. The crux of this post is how much I love looking at WIP's. It is so soothing and relaxing to look at how other people are getting on with their pieces. I love seeing how different projects are coming together. I end up trawling the internet looking for places where people have posted their WIP pics. I really love seeing completed or in progress pieces of charts that I am current stitching, have in my stash or on my wishlist.

So to all you fellow crafters and stitchers out there, a big thank you from me for taking the time to share your work.

I have also been trying to narrow my focus on projects for 2013. I have a number of goals in mind including:

I have to finish Oriental Elegance
I have a secret project I need to get done during the year
I have a project for my OH that he wants me to stitch for him
I want to finish Majestic Peacock
I want to finish QS Fairy with Butterfly Mask
I am planning a new start probably around May of HAED chart Autumn by Jacek Yerka with Spices of your life (Please do check out her brand new blog)
I also want to get the HAED BB SAL piece done.
And somewhere in with all of this, work and study I want to get work on Bridge of Wings done.

Wow that is a long list of things to try and get done. I wonder how many I will achieve. Majestic Peacock is going to be my first YOTA piece and I may have to restrict myself to maybe a week working on a YOTA piece in each month, but not sure yet. This list does not include work on Celtic Spring, QS Clara, QS Olianna, The Journey (Aveyond) or a number of other charts I have on the go :-s

Let the colouring begin....

Have you ever had a solution to a problem you have been having  just come to you and you couldn't rest until you had given it a try to see if it worked? Well that happened to me the other day with Oliana. I was having trouble figuring out how I was going to tackle the the colouring on this one. There is a fair amount of confetti in it, and I would normally tackle this with the parking method. However with having already done the outline I was finding that marking just wasn't working for me.

So I decided that I would stitch it as if I was actually 'colouring' something in. I decided to use my Pako thread organiser (here) to thread all the predominant colours in the hair. Then I started stitching each piece of outlined hair, doing all the stitches in one piece then moving onto the next.

Having all my threads already on needles saved the time of having to constantly put each colour back on it's bobbin again and then find it for the next lot of that colour.

So I have made some progress on the first page of colour on Oliana.

Using this method has been really quite enjoyable, although the back of my piece now looks like a disaster but no one will see that part.

Outlining So Close.....IHSW Progress

So I signed up for IHSW again this month, however as usual I had very little hermit time. I did get some more work done on HAED QS Oliana Otter. I now only have about a half a partial page of outlining left to go. I think she is looking fairly well.

There is some black in her face and the otters face, which both look fairly creepy at the moment, but I will add that in when doing the rest of the colour.

So I have a little poll for you all. I have enjoyed doing the outline so much that when this outline is finished, I was thinking of doing another. I would like your thoughts on which one. They are all Hannah Lynn artwork. The first two are both quick stitch projects, the second two are full size.

I do love progress!

Here is the progress on HAED QS Oliana Otter. I am still working on the black outlining. I'm having so much fun with this one. I really enjoy seeing the different elements come together.

The outlining is nearly done I am working on one of the last 2 partial pages. Then I get to move on to the 'colouring in'.

Not much but here we go

Ok so I have had an amazingly hectic life lately. Had very little time for crafting so I haven't been able to post even if I had anything to show you. I did manage to get little bits of stitching in on my mini and QS Oliana Otter.

I decided I would do a quick post and show you all the pictures of what I have done lately.

IHSW this weekend

Well the third weekend of the month has rolled around again and I had hoped to sequester myself away in my little room for the weekend and maybe, just maybe get The Dreamer finished once and for all.

Unfortunately it's not to be. It turns out I have a huge amount of college and career (such as it is) work to try and get done. Also a friend if mine is home from abroad so will be meeting him on Sunday. So will do my very best to get some hermitting in but can't make any promises.

Would be DELIGHTED if I could finish The Dreamer, finish my current mini project and maybe get page 4 outline of Oliana done. Those are my goals we will how many, if any I can complete.

A little late.....IHSW

Hope everyone had a wonderful IHSW. I didn't get a lot of stitching done, had a bad weekend. I did manage to get one of my goals done and finished page 2 and the partial page 3 black outline of QS Oliana Otter.

I am enjoying doing the outline on this one. There are now 2 full pages and 4 partials left. I will then start 'colouring it in'.

Hopefully my next IHSW is more successful, I have done it three months now and haven't had a chance to actually hermit. Oh well.

Oops - it is official......

I have absolutely ZERO self control. I have been absolutely itching for a new start lately but kept telling myself no, finish something first!

Well was feeling fairly rubbish the last little while and I got so fed up I decided that a new start would make me feel better.

So having watched other people work on Hannah Lynn Disney's projects and seeing how great they look I decided to start working on the black outline of QS Oliana Otter.

Other bloggers have done all the outlining and then filled in the colours and I have so loved how that looks I decided to give it a go, so here she is, I started her Friday and have most of the 1st page black done. Didn't work on her on Sunday as was out home having a family dinner.
